‘Asam Pedas’ is a dish that is very popular among the Malay community in Malaysia. ‘Asam Pedas’ is not too complicated and not too easy to cook. ‘Asam Pedas’ name is taken from the combination of flavors of this dish, which is sour and spicy.

Among the ingredients used are fish (machete, mackerel, redfish, terubuk fish, cencaru fish, lattice fish, parang fish, stingrays, and mayong fish), turmeric, ginger, galangal, dried chilies, red onion, garlic, lemongrass, kesum leaves, kantan flowers, tamarind, kaffir lime leaves, and belacan according to the correct dosage.
