The Museum of History and Ethnography is located around the Red building (Stadhuys). It was built during the Dutch Government in the 1950s. The museum shows the early history of the establishment of the state of Melaka from the colonization of the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese until Independence.
At the complex, visitors can also visit the Museum of Education, the Museum of Literature, the Museum of Democracy, and the Museum of Admiral Cheng Ho. These five museums reveal the characteristics of the civil, social, and cultural civilizations of the past.
Not only that, but the museum also showcases antiques such as porcelain, ceramics, old pottery, cannons that are hundreds of years old, and carvings on old furniture.
